Produced in 1889. Modified blade front and notch rear sights, with the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel and the three line, three date patent markings on the right side of the frame. Over 80% of the revolver's surface is covered in a fine Helfricht-style engraving, with punch-dot backed scrollwork, dot accented zigzags, floral and sunburst patterns. The right side of the trigger guard bears the factory six pointed star rework stamp. Grips are smooth mother of pearl, with deep set 1910-20 vintage medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies serial number 129317 as "45/c" caliber, 7 1/2" barrel, nickel finish, pearl grips, factory engraved and that it was shipped as one to Browning Brothers, Ogden, Utah on March 27, 1889. The letter does not state that the revolver was returned to the factory.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 45 LC
Finish: nickel
Grips: mother of pearl
Serial Number: 129317
Condition: Very fine as factory refurbished, with 85% of the nickel plated finish remaining, showing minor wear and flaking along the edges, bubbling on the sides of the cylinder and frame and mild handling marks overall. The grips are also very fine, with exception of a tiny chip on the right heel and signs of polishing. Grip straps are numbered "597N" under the panels. A nice attractive example of a factory engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver.
