FRANK SINATRA'S CONCERT-USED GOLD-PLATED MICROPHONE
Sinatra's stage-used gold-plated microphone, from concerts in Europe and the U.S.

A very special relic of the great Frank Sinatra's historic career, a the gold-plated microphone used by him in concerts in Europe and the United States from 1984, on. The microphone is an Austrian-made AKG model C535EB, serial number 11364, 7" long, and is engraved and filled in black paint: "FRANK SINATRA in Concert". It bears a three-prong female opening at bottom for a cable attachment (showing use), with a gold wire mesh at top. This important piece of memorabilia was consigned to us in person by Henry "Hank" Cattaneo, Production manager of Frank Sinatra Enterprises and president of Cat Productions Inc. His signed letter of provenance picturing the microphone, included in the sale, reads in part: "...After having worked with Frank Sinatra in recording studios for many years, Mr. Sinatra asked me to join him touring on a full time basis. Over many years my relationship with Frank grew and eventually developed into a close friendship, to include co-producing his final three albums...[The] microphone pictured below was used by him onstage for all performances in Europe in 1984, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and at Vienna...This same microphone was used for some time at various performances here in the United States...This microphone was given to me by Frank as a keepsake and has been in my possession ever since...". Mr. Cattaneo produced Sinatra's 2009 album Frank Sinatra Live at the Meadowlands", is credited as such, and is pictured in the liner notes with his arm about Mr. Sinatra's shoulders. A similar microphone was used by Sinatra at a benefit concert in Vienna during the same tour and was sold at the time in a live television auction for $10,000. A copy of a news clipping noticing the sale is included.
