F.H. Clark Pocket Percussion Derringer
Manufactured circa 1850s to the 1860s, these pocket pistols were very similar to the Henry Deringer style. Clark & Company was a well known southern firm in Memphis, Tennessee that dealt primarily in jewelry, however they also carried a large line of guns and sporting goods, and they were also agents for Henry Deringer. Many of the pistols were found with dual markings, (Henry and Clark), but other non-Henry made pistols such as this one were made by Clark & Co. or by another (unknown) southern maker and bear the marking "F.H. CLARK & CO / MEMPHIS" on the top flat of the breech. The left breech flat, hammer, barrel tang and trigger guard are scroll engraved. Plain German silver mountings except for the left side plate which is scroll patterned with light engraving. Small brass blade front and fixed notch iron rear sights, wooded ramrod with brass head and stock with checkered grip area and German silver thumb shield.

Fair. The iron surfaces have a cleaned smooth silver gray patina. The German silver has an aged patina. The stock is very fine with most of the original finish, a few minor nicks around the edge of the lock, a few scattered minor dents and moderate wear to the checkering as well has a few minor chips. The marking is readable despite some minor flash pitting. The percussion nipple appears to be original to the pistol and is heavily battered and deteriorated. The action is fine.
