This is an exceptionally rare example of a prewar 1936 Model chained "NSKK" dagger. This beautiful example is complete with its original 1936 pattern sheath that has the correct chained hanger with all the fittings, (chain, cross guard, upper fitting and tang nut as well as all three of the fittings on the sheath) having been "gold" washed and not the standard or traditional silver plated. The blade is marked "Alles fur Deutschland" (All for Germany) with the obverse of the blade marked with the small circular "RZM/M 7/66/1939" markings. The hilt has the correct medium brown color with the circular "SA" emblem at the top with the winged Nazi Eagle/Clutching Swastika. The chain links are decorated with alternating sunwheels, eagles and swastikas, with a both chains connected to a belt loop clip, decorated with an oakleaf design on the face. The back side of the first link on the upper chain is correctly marked "MUSTERSCHUTZ/ NSKK-/KORPSFUHRUNG" with the first link of the lower chain marked on the back side with an "RZM logo/M 3/23".

Excellent. The blade shows some minor rub marks on the lower section from sliding in and out of the sheath. The markings and proofmarks are clear and sharp. The wooden handle is also excellent with only minor handling marks. The various fittings noted above all retain 95% of the original gold plating with some minor wear on the inside pointed edges of the cross-guard and upper fitting, mixed with some minor edge wear and flaking on the sheath fittings and chained hanger. This is an excellent high condition example of a very rare gold washed 1936 Model NSKK marine dagger. Reportedly the finest known in the world.
