Exceptional Late Production Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine
Produced in 1919, the final year of production, this is a truly extraordinary Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine. Features are standard, including a saddle ring on the left side of the frame, 20-inch round barrel, full-length magazine, single barrel band, steel buttplate with sliding brass trap, block front sight and adjustable leaf rear sight and varnished walnut stock and forearm. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT./KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." and "44 W.C.F.". Third Model frame with integral cover guide, the upper tang is factory drilled and tapped for a tang sight and roll-stamped "MODEL 1873/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG.IN U.S.PAT.OFF." and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is inscribed "44 CAL". Smooth straight grip stock, with a three-piece, jointed, steel, cleaning rod in the butt trap.

Condition: Excellent plus, retaining 98% of the original blue finish. Wear is limited to some very minor scuff marks adjacent to the sling ring and some light finish loss on the heel and toe of the buttplate and the barrel band. The hammer and loading lever have nearly all of the brilliant original color casehardened finish. The walnut stock and forearm have some scattered, minor, storage marks and remain in excellent condition. This is an outstanding example of a Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine that would be virtually impossible to improve upon.
