Colt New Army DA revolver with Colt factory letter that states it was shipped to M. Hartley & Company, New York, New York, on June 11, 1901. The right side plate was subsequently engraved with the inscription "Individual/Proficiency-1900/Second Battalion/N. M. N.Y./Won by/Kingsley L. Martin/Lieut (J.G.) Gunnery Officer.". The revolver has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish on the barrel cylinder and frame. The trigger and the top of the hammer are a high polish niter blue. The two-piece black hard rubber grips are checkered and have "COLT" embossed above the Rampant Colt trademark at the top of the grip. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co.HARTFORD.CT. U.S.A./PATENTED AUG.5,1884 NOV.6.88. MAR.5.95.". The circled Rampant Colt trademark is roll-stamped on the left rear of the frame. The serial number, "160/555" is stamped on the bottom of the grip strap. The assembly number "407" is stamped on the inside of the frame, crane and on the side of the cylinder latch. The revolver is complete with an original picture carton. The carton lid has pictures of the Rampant Colt and a New Army DA revolver. The left end panel has a bright blue label with "6 COLT'S NEW ARMY D.A. PISTOL/RUBBER BLUE" in black print. Glued to the interior of the lid is a yellow and red advertisement for "IDEAL" RELOADING IMPLEMENTS. The carton contains what appears to be the original tissue wrapping paper. A serial number "86643" is written in pencil of the bottom of the carton.
