About 2,000 were made for the government and a small number for civilian use. This U.S. rifle features ramp bead front and semi-buckhorn sporting rear sights, with the two line address on top of the barrel between the sights, the 2-line caliber marking on the left side of the breech and small commercial inspection marks on the right. Model and makers marks on the receiver, which is drilled and tapped on top and on the right. Checkered pistol grip stock, with sling swivels, crossed cannon and F.J. Atwood ("FJA") inspector stamps on the left side of the buttstock and a checkered steel buttplate.
