Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Sporting Rifle manufactured in 1894. The rifle has a color casehardened frame, loading lever, hammer and forearm cap with blue barrel and buttplate. The rifle has a highly figured, "Fancy Grain" forearm and pistol grip stock with shotgun butt. The stock and forearm have Winchester factory "Style H" checkered panels. The bottom of the pistol grip has an ebony inlay. The rifle is fitted with a special order, half round/half octagon barrel, half magazine and double-set triggers. The barrel has a dovetail mounted fixed front sight with set screw and brass blade and a factory blank in the rear sight dovetail. A Redfield micrometer rear sight is mounted on the left side of the frame. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the legend: "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS Co. NEW HAVEN. CONN.U.S.A.-" in two lines in front of the rear sight dovetail. The caliber, "45-90 W.C.F." is roll-stamped on the top barrel flat just ahead of the frame. "-MODEL 1886-" is roll-stamped on the upper tang. The lower tang is stamped with the two-line 1884/1885 patent dates behind the triggers and the serial number, "99744" behind the rear tang screw. The included factory letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, half octagon barrel, set trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, half magazine, and shotgun buttplate. The rifle was received in warehouse on April 24, 1895 and shipped on April 25, 1895, order number 10726.

The bottom of the frame has faded to a silver patina and the case colors on the loading lever have a dark patina. The receiver has a non-factory Redfield receiver sight added. The shotgun buttplate retains about 75% of the original blue finish. The highly figured, "Fancy Grain", stock and forearm are in very fine condition with nearly all of the high polish varnish finish. The checkered panels are sharp. The stock and forearm show only very minor handling wear.
