Excellent Engraved German Silver Banded Wurfflein Philadelphia Derringer Percussion Pistol
Though unmarked, this pistol has the signature reverse plate of Andrew Wurfflein of Philadelphia, active from 1845 to 1871. German silver blade front and notch rear sights, with a zig-zag engraved silver banded breech and scroll engraved tang. Extensively engraved, with a pineapple finial, border engraved tip insert, inscription shield and buttplate and scroll engraving on the other parts and furniture. Schnabel tip stock with a checkered bird's head butt.

Very fine, showing half of the original gray streaked brown finish on the barrel, strongest on the sides near the wood, with small patches of dark spotting. Bright case colors are visible on the lock in the protected areas, with a gray patina forming overall. Mild handling marks are visible on the silver, with an aged patina forming in the protected areas. Fine stock with some scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
