Excellent DWM Model German 1906 American Eagle Luger
This is just a fantastic example of an early production DWM 1906 American Eagle Luger. These early Lugers were made expressly for export to the United States to increase overseas sales by the DWM factory. These early Lugers feature excellent fit and finish with beautiful hand polish rust blued finish on the metal parts with straw color on the smaller components with beautiful dark European hand checkered walnut stock. These were probably some of the best of the Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced for commercial sales and this pistol certainly exemplifies that. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel with the top of the chamber area marked with the large American Eagle crest, and the DWM logo on the front toggle. Evidently, this pistol was produced early enough in the production cycle that DWM had not started applying the standard B,U, and G commercial proofmarks as the barrel extension is completely unmarked and the front of the frame and underside of the barrel are marked with the full serial number. There are no commercial "N" proofmarks on the pistol anywhere with only "GERMANY" stamped on the front of the frame below the serial number. The left side of the breechblock and toggle have the partial serial number of 04 stamped on them as does the take down lever, side plate, trigger and back side of the grip panels. The trigger, take down lever, magazine release button and ejector are all straw colored. The pistol as noted is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base.

Excellent with 99% plus original blue overall with just a hint of wear on the edges and high spots. The small parts retain 80% of their original straw colors that have just faded with age. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering overall with just a couple of nicks in a few places. The magazine is also in excellent condition with only one very small, minor nick on the right side of the base. Just a fantastic all original and excellent condition DWM Model 1906 American Eagle luger.
