Actor (1909–1959) best known for his romantic swashbuckler roles in Hollywood films like Captain Blood and The Adventures of Robin Hood, as well as his flamboyant lifestyle. Early and distinguished vintage glossy 8 x 10 Warner Bros. publicity photo of the actor in an opened collar shirt and ascot (sans moustache), signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Saul, Errol Flynn.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of January 22, 1938, the date the signature was acquired. Flynn had arrived in New York just one day earlier after having finished The Adventures of Robin Hood. In fine condition, with a few light surface marks and mild rippling to emulsion, visible only at an angle. An early and boldly signed example of the Hollywood icon.
