Engraved Jimmy Lile Folding Knife with Scrimshaw Ivory Inlays
This folding knife was handcrafted by the late Arkansas Master Knifemaker James B. Lile. One of the most influential knifemakers in the world, Lile is the inventor of the famous "Lile Lock" folding knife and is probably best remembered as the creator of the original Rambo knife for the movie "First Blood" which generated a whole new era of knife design and collecting. His customers included Presidents Richard M. Nixon, Gerald R. Ford and Ronald Reagan, King Carl Gustav IV of Sweden and the actors John Wayne and Fess Parker. This Lile folding knife has a 3 1/4 inch blade marked "LILE" on the left side and "080" on the reverse. Floral engraved frame signed and dated by the most prolific Lile engraver, James Stewart ("STEWART 89") on the left side and "AMERICA" on the reverse, with some file work on top edges. The right side of the locking mechanism is script marked "U.S. / Patent No. / 4148140". The ivory inlays have scrimshawed bird dog hunting scenes. OAL: 8 1/4"
