Elaborate blackpowder era sidelock double rifle, signed “Alexander Henry, Edinburgh, London Maker to their Royal Highness’ The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Edinburgh”. The rifle is in .450 caliber with anunderlever release and shows tight English scroll engraving, double triggers, cocking indicators with gold letters. Serial #5672 and patent #58 on top of action. At the top of barrel right near the rear of addressthere is a silver inlaid dagger on left barrel and spear on right barrel which are weapons of the Indian style (possibly made for Maharaja or officer stationed in India. The barrels show 75-85% of their originalbrown and Damascus pattern. The lock and action are banknote scroll engraved and show traces of case hardening drifting to grey. The stock is of nicely grained walnut and has had a light refreshening that is properlydone and shows no evidence of sanding. The action is tight, the bores are good and show some minor erosion and slight pitting. Est: $5,000 - $10,000
