New Zealand–born Edmund Hillary (1919-2008), along with Sherpa guide Tenzing Norgay (1914–1986), were the most prominent members of the first party to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. Color 7 x 4.75 postcard photo of Mount Everest, signed in black ballpoint, “Ed Hillary,” with a Nepalese postage stamp and cancellation to lower left; and a ballpoint signature of Tenzing Norgay on an off-white 5 x 3 collector’s card.
