(Paramount, 1955) Pencil, pen & ink, watercolor, and gouache on 14.5 x 19” 2-ply illustration board, by Edith Head of Grace Kelly in Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief, a film for which she was nominated for an Oscar. With 35 nominations and 8 wins, Head is the single most honored woman in any field in the Academy’s history. One of this film’s most memorable qualities is the amazing clothes worn by Grace Kelly and how elegantly she wears them. Attached on verso is a memo to Hitchcock, signed by Head, requesting his approval for this traveling outfit of long coat with matching hat and gloves, and Hitchcock’s initials are present on recto at lower right. Head has made numerous notations on verso, including color tests. Faint toning to side margins, else Very Fine.
