Early U.S. Militia Officer's Sword, ca. 1790-1820, 28'' blade, 34'' overall, blade with traces of light etching showing Stand of Arms with Liberty cap, and possible snake type riband marked ''New York''. Brass crossguard and knuckle bow, with reeded bone/ivory handle. Blade with sweeping early curve and broad fuller extending nearly the length of blade. No scabbard. Condition is very good overall with thinning to originally very light etching, moderate carbon spotting, and light pitting to blade. Brass hardware with light patina, darkening to grip, and original leather washer is present with light cracks and minor chips. Pommel nut is loose and should be tightened. Est.: $800-$1,200.
