Early James Reid 22 Caliber Knuckle Duster
Manufactured from 1868 to 1882, with a total production of about 10,690. This is an early production marked simply "MY FRIEND" on the left side of the frame below the cylinder. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame with partial number "70" on the rear face of the cylinder and on the cylinder pin. The brass frame with standard leaf and scroll engraved design and also acts as a set of knuckles for hand fighting.

Partially refinished, the iron parts, with almost all of the nickel finish remaining on the cylinder and about 50% on the remaining parts. There is minor pitting under the finish on the cylinder and hammer. The frame retains 70% of the original silver with the scattered exposed brass having an aged patina. The marking and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine.
