Early 20th Century English Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer's Sword, with Edward VII etched motif to blade and prominently displayed in pierced guard; 32-1/2'' blade, 38-1/2'' overall, with double wire-wrapped skate grip and checkered backstrap. Spine of sword is marked ''London Made''. In brown leather-covered nickel-throated scabbard. Edward VII reigned from 1901-1910. He was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and was on the throne during the last part of the Boar War. Although his reign was short, much of the shift in European power occurred in the first decade of the 20th Century. Condition is excellent showing just light carbon spotting overall to blade and guard. Treated scabbard with minor scuffs and scratches. Leather washer is present. Est.: $600-$800.
