Custom engraved and 24 K gold inlaid Colt SAA revolver with the engraving accomplished by Master engraver Leonard Francolini, .45 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, blue finish, custom Colt medallion ivory grips fitted by Colt Master grip maker D. Chesiak, #S11755A. This outstanding work of art is in overall like new condition signed and dated 1997 by Francolini on the front of the frame. This is a rare screwless frame that allows the engraver a broader canvas to perform his artistry. The barrel assembly shows gold inlaid address and left side caliber marking, is tastefully gold inlaid in a vine motif with a thin gold border; the front sight has been cut out and sculpted with engraving underneath. The frame shows intertwined leaf and vine work and corresponding gold inlay on the recoil shield, the loading gate and the hammer. The cylinder shows engraving and matching gold inlays around the rear portion and an inlaid border on the front portion of the cylinder and sides of the flutes. the back strap is engraved en suite and has gold inlay at the top, back bottom and on the butt strap; the trigger guard is likewise engraved and gold inlaid. The serial number of the gun is also gold inlaid. The grips are expertly accomplished and fitted to this gun and show beautiful color and graining. A truly outstanding example of a high art Colt SAA revolver. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
