This lot contains a Crow Native American Indian, modern museum quality, fully beaded cradleboard or papoose. The cradleboard is based on a rich colored wooden frame, adorned with brass colored tacks, in a symmetrical geometric motif. The papoose wrapping is constructed on a tanned hide leather base, with a decorative trade cloth interior. The wrapping is closed with long cut fringe ties, and is additionally decorated with a large cluster of medium hide fringe, dangling from the bottom. The wrapping shows fully beaded makeup, with 3 geometric motif designs on each left and right side, and a large geometric triangle on the top of the head. The trade seed bead colors include; Chalk White, Cheyenne Pink, Greasy Yellow, Dark Green, Robin Egg Blue, and Semi-Transparent Dark Blue, and Dark Red. This tediously crafted piece originates from prominent Native American Collector - Ken "Walks In Winter", associated with the Rising Wolf Traders, on the Blackfoot Reservation. Overall, the papoose shows very good condition, with no apparent bead loss. The cradleboard measures 41 1/2" tall, 14" wide, and approximately 12 1/4" deep.
