This is an excellent authentic museum blacksmith forged dag knife with “beavertail” handle from the Cree Native American Indians circa 1800-1850. The 19th century Hudson Bay Company style Fur Trade era dag knife shows a “beavertail” paddle or beaver back handle in walnut with six copper rivets and decorated with a brass trade tacked design on both sides. The piece shows a long tapering blade with a raised median ridge, a documented early weapons feature on authentic, period correct dag knives. The piece is from the Ex-collection of the Dakota Frontier Museum and Scoville collection. Truly an excellent and historic dag knife showing well preserved good condition. Measures overall “L with a “L blade that is “W.
