Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, relic condition, inoperable and missing parts. Numbers not legible due to erosion. Circa 1890’s. A letter on National Firearms Museum stationary from Doug Wickland, Curator, states that this handgun was discovered in 1975 in an abandoned mine near Ketchum, ID. Mr. Wickland mentions that this area was reknowned for outlaw gangs that preyed on mining camps andstage throughout the area. He further mentions the gun was coated with thick grease or tar and wrapped in an oil cloth set on a shelf near the front of the tunnel. A map of the area is also included showing where itwas found.
