Colt Model 1851 Martially marked Navy Percussion Revolver, #64504, .36 cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, one-piece walnut grips. Mfg'd 1856. These 1851 Navies were U.S. marked to left side of frame and purchased by the Army in the mid-1850s featuring brass backstrap, small rounded brass triggerguard and beveled loading slot. This somewhat early example features the New York barrel address, with ''C'' inspector's mark to backstrap, and ''M'' and ''L'' markings to triggerguard. Original front sight has been removed and a modified silver blade dovetail has been fitted during its period of use. Revolver features all visible matching numbers, including wedge. Condition is mechanically excellent with clear flash holes and all six safety pins present. Cosmetically, barrel assembly retains approx. 10%-20% very thin finish, frame has toned gray, and backstrap and triggerguard show even patination. Cartouche is not visible and grips have added varnish. Markings are clear and naval engagement scene is vivid. Screws retain much of their fire blue and slots are straight. Action is tight, bore is fine. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Antique)
