For bidding in this lot is a collection of five meteorite fragments, all collected from four separate astrological events. The largest piece comes in the form of a tumbled fragments from Campo del Cielo meteorite, from Gran Chaco Gualamba, Argentina. The piece weighs 18.8 grams, and is classified as an Iron Octedrite 3.0mm IA. The Campo del Cielo was recorded as early as 1576, this well preserved fragment was discovered in 1988, and exhibits very little surface rust. The next piece is a 10.43 gram chunk of shrapnel from the Sikhote-Alin meteorite, which fell on February 12th, 1947, in the Sikhote-Alin Mountains, in the USSR. This fragment is classified as Iron Coarsest Octahedrite IIB. The remaining three fragments include a 1.4 gram stony iron meteorite fragment from the Sahara Desert in Morocco, followed by a 4.8 gram additional fragment from the Campo del Cielo in Argentina, and lastly, a 1.7 gram fragment from Canyon Diablo, in Arizona. All of the fragments are preserved, and displayed in riker cases. The fragments are in good condition. The largest piece is the 18.8 gram Campo del Cielo fragment, measuring 1" x 1".
