Buenos Aires Retailer marked 1902 Luger Carbine, in original 1907 dated presentation case, #24601, .30 Luger cal., 11-3/4'' barrel, blue finish with straw small parts, factory checkered walnut grips, matching numbered checkered forend and stock, with two unmarked nickel-plated magazines with walnut bases, as well as a combination cleaning rod/oiler, and Imperial marked combination tool. Top of barrel marked ''J. Canedo/611 Rivadivia, 611/Bs Aires''. Chamber is blank, DWM marked toggle, lower portion of thumb safety polished bright, scalloped toggle knobs, grip safety, 3-position rear sight, ramped gold bead front sight. Matching numbered walnut stock with horn buttplate and fire blue screws. Silver plaque to lid of case period inscribed ''El Gobernador de la Provincia/Concurso de Setiembre 1907/la Plata'' (Governor of the Province/Contest of September 1907/The Silver). Left side of upper frame with ''(crown)/B'' and ''U'' proofmarks, with BUG markings to bottom of barrel. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 97% lightly thinning and toning blue showing some possible touchup to forward portion of barrel. Grips with minor flattening and light impressions; stock and forend show less pronounced flattening with minor impressions to both sides of smooth portion of stock. Horn buttplate with some areas of loss and minor worming. Action is crisp, bore is very good with some frosting in the grooves. Plaque to top of case with minor patination. Brown leather covering shows light surface wear. Goldenrod interior with light soiling. A beautiful South American retailed Luger Carbine that was probably awarded in a shooting competition.
