Breen, Walter H. HAND-ANNOTATED TYPEWRITTEN DRAFT OF THE “OOPS” CHAPTER OF walter breen’s encyclopedia of early united states cents, 1793-1814. Berkeley, 25 October 1990. Typescript, printed on one side of fifty 8.5 by 11 sheets. Annotated throughout in blue ink by Breen, but addressed to Bob Miller in Breen’s typical purple ink at top of page and signed by him. Fine. The apparent second draft, though not indicated as such. Breen’s note reads, “Dear Bob Miller--Here is the updated “Oops!” chapter mentioned in our phone talk. Any further comments welcome. Thanks-- (signed) Walter Breen.” The “Oops!” chapter covered early date large cent mint errors and is the most detailed examination of the subject published. This draft includes Breen’s annotations, most of which are adding variety numbers to types of error, in an attempt to correlate errors that had been seen. Quite interesting.
