lot features a wonderful circa 1850 Pipe Tomahawk attributed to the Blackfoot Native American Indians of Montana. The head is made of hand forged iron and measures 8.75 inches in length by 3 inches across the bottom of the blade. The piece is likely English Blacksmith made and features a very rare screw on and off threaded pipe smoking bowl (it is not recommended to attempt to remove the bowl). The head has artful file work, forged chevrons and molding with a barrel-shaped pipe bowl having a thin neck and base. The hardwood haft has an old brass tack design of various sizes and a white beaded floral drop comprised of both Buffalo hide and Buckskin ending in long fringes. The drop was likely added later, but in itself is still a pre-1900 piece. The entire tomahawk has a nice mellow patina and excellent style and form. The piece has a total length of 21.75 inches. Purchased by collector Tom Hardy in Sante Fe in 2002.
