The lot features one of the most artful and fantastic lots in this sale, an original Blackfoot (Blackfeet) Native American Indian fully beaded hide showing a pictorial scene of a traditional Blackfoot Pony Raid. The piece shows an Indian tanned large quality hide with exceptional glass trade seed beadwork in chalk white, greasy yellow, butterscotch yellow, black, dark blue, red, brown, sky padre blue, semi-transparent red, and dark semi-transparent green. The piece is from the historic Blackfoot Reservation in Browning and East Glacier, Montana (near Glacier National Park) and was displayed and curated by Ken Walks-In-Winter the proprietor of Rising Wolf Traders from circa 1989-1990 on the reservation. This is one of the finest display of authentic Indian beadwork on a full size hide currently offered for public sale and displays wonderfully. The hide shows outstanding quality and attention to detail and fine condition. The piece shows four Blackfoot Indian Warriors on horseback in full war dress in full gallup towards approximately 25 running horses. The piece is said to have been done in the third to fourth quarter of the 20th Century (pre-1989). The piece has been previously informally appraised at over $10,000 and is truly a work of original art. The hide measures overall 51"X59". The hide is very supple and can be folded for transport into an area approximately 3.5" thick by 14" long by 6.5" wide.
