DS, signed “L. Switon,” one page, 8 x 12.75, September 11, 1940. A "Combat Report" marked "Secret," describing an air fight during the Battle of Britain. In part: "I attacked the leading section in line astern head on against a formation of 25 HE 111's. E/A were in Vics of 5 line astern at 18000 feet with their fighter escort already engaged above. I fired a four second burst from 500 yds closing to 150 yds. E/A immediately fell back from its formation with smoke pouring from its port engine. A number of enemy fighters then joined the fight and I had to leave the Heinkel. I last saw it losing altitude and dropping away from the formation with an escort fighter hovering above it." In fine condition. Born on October 10, 1915, Switon was a Polish pilot who joined 54 Squadron at Hornchurch on August 9, 1940, and moved to 303 Squadron at Northolt on August 16th.
