Ballard No. 6-1/2 off hand target rifle finely factory engraved relined expertly to 22 cal. rim fire long ago and pictured pg. 216 “Ballard Book” by John T Dutcher, serial #8505. The rifle shows dual cheek pieces oneach side of stock and extra long 14-1/2” pull. Also Rigby type flats on breech end of barrel. The barrel retains 50-70% of original blue with some thinning, toning and aging. The frame shows 60-80% case hardening that is going soft and silvery with some color. The stocks are near fine with exceptional grain and sharp checkering. The rifle is mounted with a period tang sight, adjustable target front sight and factorySwiss style butt plate. The action is good, the bore is very good and still bright, it may clean nicely. The barrel is drilled and tapped with 4 plug screws which were for a target scope mount. The engraving shows stag and doe on left and bear on right. The engraving is of exceptional quality. The re-lining and extractor work are neatly done by an old time master gunsmith. Est.; $6,000-$12,000.
