Audley Safety Holster for 4'' Commercial Luger, back marked ''Audley/Safety Holster Co./New York/Pat. Apld. For''. Francis Audley was a harness maker in New York City, but after the invention of the automobile, he opened a police supply store across the street from the NYC headquarters. In addition to police supplies, he mfg'd holsters. These holsters were only mfg'd for approx. 19 months, as Audley died May 10, 1916, and the nomenclature to the back of the holsters was changed to ''Folsom Audley Patent''. Condition is excellent with light soiling and minor scuffs to exterior. Nickel safety lock with minor scratches and scuffs. Very light verdigris around brass rivets. Minor thinning to stitching at plug but no losses. Est.: $200-$400.
