Arapaho Saddle Blanket. 50" x 37". Fabulous classic beaded elements. All sinew sewn on one piece of hide. Very showy. Accented with trade bells and 8" fringe. Circa 1880. Provenance: Ex-Lionel and Ruth Bax collection, Colorado. L. D. (Lionel) and Ruth Bax began collecting Indian artifacts in 1915. They traveled throughout the Rocky Mountain region, and beyond, on a quest for the finest examples of Indian artifacts. Acquired by purchase, barter or trade, the collection consistently exhibited their high standards
of authenticity and quality. In 1985, the Bax collection was donated to The Denver Art Museum. A book was published in 1986 for the Denver Art Museum by Richard Conn entitled: “A Persistent Vision; Art of the Reservation Days: The L. D. and Ruth Bax Collection. The book is found in libraries
