Mario was the son of Enrico Calzolari, an artist and art teacher in Florence in the early 20th century. Enrico and Mario founded a Florentine art shop in 1910 which is still run by the third and fourth generations. Mario and his daughter Ida produced works of art in the style of the old Flemish and Renaissance Painters.
