An Impressive Complete and Very Rare Ruger Collection Consisting of Pistols, Revolvers, Rifles and S
According to the information provided by the consignor, this collection was started by his father, who was a Ruger employee from the 1950's onward. As the story goes, in the mid-1950s Ruger extended an option to its employees to reserve a low serial number, essentially giving them right of first refusal on each gun produced in that number, in order to start their own private collections. His father's original number, 00061, was reportedly given by Bill Ruger to a VIP with Charter Arms on accident, and by way of apology Ruger issued him serial number 00038 out of his own personal 00001-00040 reserved number range. Every gun in this lot is with its original box, with the majority in new to near new condition, and all with serial numbers ending in 00038, with the three starting numbers appropriate to each model. The GP-100 was introduced in 1986, with this example showing standard markings, adjustable rear sight, smooth trigger and rubber grips with smooth wood panel inserts. In box with papers and shipping sleeve numbered to gun. Also included with the lot is a large amount of Ruger memorabilia, the majority of which was given by the company directly to the employees, including a number of mugs, steins, anniversary pins, matchboxes, a Ruger 30 Year commemorative wall calendar, 30th Anniversary gun cleaning pad, and additional items. This collection has an on-going status, when a new firearm is manufactured the Factory will continue to entitle serial number 00038 to the collection. The buyer may purchase the firearm from the seller at seller's cost, which is approximately 60% off the retail price. See Rock Island Auction online catalog for all descriptions and all photos.
