Of singular quality, with antler grips bound at the base with twisted silver wire and faceted steel pommel, the guard wrought of fine Persian black wootz with faint gold-inlaid borders. The blade of unique form: moderately curved, chamfered along the spine on either side for its entire length and terminating in a pronounced armor-piercing tip. Forged of the finest Kara Taban (brilliant black) Persian wootzdamascus steel in a dramatic and highly-contrasted ladder pattern with original finish. Inlaid at the forte with two cartouches, the first inscribed in Arabic, I OPEN THE DOOR TO VICTORY! the second in an unusual hand showing Kufic influence, untranslated but for the number 30, probably indicating a date of 1030 c.e. (1620/21 c.e.) Beginning of the 17th century.Overall length 91.5 cm. Condition I
