Kachin work, the grip with typical flared pommel and bone finial inlaid with horn device, the grip wrapped with braided rattan and covered in red lacquer, the ferule of brass and finely-wrought of silver. The stout, chisel-edged blade with characteristic flared tip, with layer-forged construction visible near the cutting edge. In its carved wooden scabbard with rattan bindings, the shoulder-sling embellished with a partial jawbone retaining several teeth, one quite large. Late 19th century. Light wear overall.
