1922-23: Civil War anti-Treaty message poster "to the Free State soldiers"
letterpress
33 by 20cm., 13 by 8in.

A scarce propaganda poster pleading with members of the pro-Treaty Free State Army to abandon their cause. "Remember that MacSwiney died in agony with one phrase on his lips, 'I am a soldier of the Irish Republic' - not a Free State soldier, half English, half Irish, not a soldier under the orders of Churchill. Ireland has one enemy, the infamous English enemy." Makes reference to numerous famous figures of the War of Independence, Civil War and the British Government.
