1909-O $5 AU58 NGC. The 1909-O has the lowest mintage of the Indian half eagle series, and would have been the unquestioned key date were it not for Franklin Roosevelt's 1933 gold recall, which transformed the 1929 from a common date into a coveted rarity. However, nearly all surviving 1929 half eagles remain in Mint State, while most 1909-O half eagles are circulated. In fact, the 1909-O is the rarest issue in Uncirculated grades. Because of the cost and rarity of the 1909-O in Mint State, most advanced collectors choose a near-Mint example. This sharp and generally lustrous piece has a bold strike and only faint friction on the cheekbone. Wispy reverse field marks are of little consequence for the AU58 grade.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
