1908 $5 MS65 NGC. The Yale-educated Bela Lyon Pratt, a student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, among others, was responsible for the novel incused-design Indian Head quarter eagles and half eagles that debuted in 1908 as part of President Theodore Roosevelt's push to implement coinage redesign. A generous mintage of 578,000 pieces, plus a collecting public that saved numerous examples as first-year issues, is responsible for most of the high grade survivors. A couple of hundred Gem pieces exist at both NGC and PCGS combined, and those examples are generally lovely and well produced. The present specimen is no exception, with lustrous orange-gold, abrasion-free surfaces. A well-struck and delightful representative of its type.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
