<B>1884 1C One Cent, Judd-1721, Pollock-1929, R.5, PR67 PCGS.</B></I> This "holey" cent is believed to be inspired by Eastman Johnson, a contemporary artist of some fame who encountered world coins with center holes during his travels. The hole forces simple designs, consisting of statutory legends, a small Union shield, and a pair of olive (?) branches. Struck in nickel with a plain edge.
