1860 Henry carbine, serial #6850. Punch dot and scratch inscribed with decorated stock and attribution to ownership by Yellowstone Kelly. A documenting letter by George Madis, author of The Winchester Book, quotes thatserial #6850 is an original Henry carbine. The barrel is 19-3/10” overall. A thorough examination of the rifle is memorialized in this appraisal by Madis stating that the tang was broken and repaired during the period of use. All other parts were original. The “UU” on top of receiver is the Indian sign for ‘tracks to follow’. There is the name TA-DO, which in Indian sign means ‘meat getter’, and other punch-dot markings and scratching of“K” for Kelly. The right side of the buttstock is carved with star geometrics and “UPRR”, and other white paint marks which were identifications. He further mentions that to his knowledge this Henry waspurchased from the heirs of Yellowstone Kelly in 1963.
