Resembling a Roman gladiator sword, this U.S. Ames Model 1832 short sword has a 19 inch long blade with a ricasso marked "US/ADK" over the date "1855" and the obverse marked "AMES MFG CO/CHICOPEE." The blade has two fullers with the ricasso on and single fuller towards the tip. The brass grip is standard with cast fish scales and an eagle on the pommel. The cross guard is marked "A.D.K./RKKW". Comes with the correct leather scabbard with brass throat and tip.

Condition: Very fine. The blade has fine original polish with the balance a mottled silver gray patina and the brass has an untouched aged patina. The scabbard is fine with a few long age cracks and some minor handling marks on the leather, three rivets are missing from the brass hardware and some minor dings on the tip, with the brass having an untouched aged patina.
