1854 S$1 --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Unc Details. The base of the 4 is repunched, as is diagnostic. Although the 1854 has an official mintage figure of 33,140 pieces, higher than many of its contemporaries, it is a well known scarcity among No Motto issues. Apparently most of the coins struck this year were shipped overseas to China as soon as they were issued. Walter Breen noted that 10,000 Silver Dollars bearing this date were shipped to San Francisco in November, 1854. Whether these remained in California, or were shipped to Asia, we do not know. This sharp, minimally abraded survivor displays muted dove-gray surfaces with no loss of luster from circulation.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
