17LY-11 LITHGONE ENFIELDAustralian Lithgow Lee-Enfield No.5 Mk. I bolt action rifle, .303 British caliber, Serial #99235. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 25” barrel with a protected blade front and military tangent style rearsights. The rifle retains the majority of its military finish, with the right rear of the action marked, “AUSTRALIA”. The wrist strap is marked, “LITHGOW SHTLE III” in a shield proof and dated 1922. The rifleretains the bayonet lug, sling swivels and an OD green canvas sling. The smooth wood stock is in very good condition showing only light handling marks. The butt ends with a smooth brass butt plate. The bore is good, theaction is crisp and markings are sharp. A nice example of an Australian “Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) circa 1922.
