17LP-11 SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOORSpringfield Model 1863 Trapdoor rifle, .50-70 caliber, Serial #NSNV. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 37” barrel. The barrel has gone to a grey patina with light surface rust. The side plate is marked,“U.S. SPRINGFIELD” with the eagle emblem and dated 1863. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars and compressions consistent with service use. The butt ends with a smooth steel crescent butt plate.
