1790 Mass. Lottery Tickets Uncut Sheet of Four
March 2, 1790-Dated Federal Period, Massachusetts Semi-annual State Lottery, Class Second Uncut Sheet of Four, Punch cancelled, each Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
A very rare Uncut vertical sheet of four early Lottery Tickets, Plate Letters: B, C, D & E printed on each of the (4) Tickets. Each having the usual small circular punch cancel at the serial number. One light fold between the first and second Tickets, which is perfectly centered in the middle of the margin selvage, completely clear of the outer border designs between the two tickets, so each is Crisp Uncirculated. A lovely “Britannia” design watermark can be seen within the clean, fine laid period paper when held up to a strong light. Each boldly signed in vivid deep brown by “Benj. Austin, Jr.”. An impressive example where one can clearly view the continuous long indent border designs printed at left. Nowadays, nearly impossible to locate as a sheet. (4 Ticket Sheet).
