Established as a light dragoon regiment in 1759 and redesignated Hussars in 1807, the 15th Kings engaged in mounted cavalry actions into WWI, and the unit's legacy is preserved to this day by the British Light Dragoons. Measuring 39 inches overall, the 33 1/4 inch straight single fuller blade is decorated with extensive etching, and is marked "39198" on the spine, an etched "C(arrow)P" just behind the false edge, "BY WARRANT/PATENT SOLID HILT/-HENRY-/WILKINSON/PALL MALL/LONDON" on the right ricasso and the inlaid "HW" proof stamp on the left. Scroll decoration is present in each panel, with the cipher of Edward VII on the right side, and the left side marked "MEREBIMUR/15/KING'S/HUSSARS". Merebimur, the Regiment's latin motto, translates to "We shall be worthy". The handguard is decorated with punched-through scroll designs and a white leather sword knot, and the grip is extensively checkered on the metal and on the wire wrapped hard rubber. With a black leather sheath, equipped with a leather frog flap, nickel finished throat and a darkened steel tip.
