17LY-7 MAUSER 98German Gew. 98 bolt action rifle, 8mm caliber, Serial #7803. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 30” barrel with a ramped blade front and military tangent style rear sights. The barrel and receiver retain a small amount of their military finish with the remainder going to a grey patina. The rifle retains the bayonet lug, cleaning rod and sling swivels. The rifle is dated 1917 on the front ring with German proofs and animport mark in front of the ring. The smooth wood stock is in fair condition showing heavy use with several light cartouches noted on the right side of the butt stock. The butt ends with a smooth steel butt plate.The bore is about fair, the action is crisp and markings are legible on this WWI era Mauser. Est.: $200-$400.
