One of the most functional and professionally manufactured folding candlesticks came from an Oregon based company run by Cornelius E. Fielding and Samuel Peterson. With a patent date of August 4, 1903 and patent number of 735, 578 Fielding and Peterson sought to make new and useful improvements to traditional miners' candlesticks. This stick is a folding hook, spike, and thimble model, with a turning locking lever on the side. The lever releases the hook and spike to be folded or unfolded. This particular stick has been turned into a high grader on the handle. Stamping on the side reads " PAT. AUG 4. 1903. MANUFD BY FIELDING & PETERSON GRANT'S PASS, ORE." This stick measures 5" inches and 9" inches long folded and unfolded and is made of steel. Wilson-Bobrink 256-257. State:Oregon City:Grants Pass Date:1903 ID#45812
