This is a pre-prohibition era porcelain whiskey jug for Gibson's Pure Rye Whiskey from John Limegrover Jr., 44 Ohio St., Allegheny, Pa. It is marked "Expressly
For Medicinal Use."

This old jug is 7-5/8 inches tall x about 5 inches in diameter, with a small finger loop handle on the backside. The handle is solid and secure. The jug is glazed with no crazing. There is a chip on the bottom front center.

It is marked on the bottom "K.T.& K. CHINA" meaning it was made by the Knowles, Taylor, Knowles China Company. This company was located in East Liverpool, Ohio from approximately 1850 to 1931. This company was known as Knowles until 1870, when John Taylor and the Knowles' son joined the company. It was then known as Knowles, Taylor, Knowles or K.T.& K for short.

We are not sure how much liquid it holds, as we chose not to fill it.
